The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Officers Welfare Association (KPLOWA) was held at the Committee Room of the Department of Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs. Provincial Minister for Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs, Aftab Alam, administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers.
The newly elected cabinet comprises District Attorney Arshad Alam as President, Samad Khan as Senior Vice President, Noor Ali as Vice President, Abbas Khan as General Secretary, Tariq Khan as Finance Secretary, Asadullah as Information Secretary and Majid Khan as Joint Secretary.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary Law Department, Director General Law and Human Rights, Additional Advocate General, and other senior officials.
Speaking on the occasion, KPLOWA President Arshad Alam briefed participants about the association, stating that it was established in 2015. He said successive leaderships had worked for the welfare of law officers and district attorneys and had taken significant steps to address their professional issues.
He noted that 75 district attorneys are currently representing the provincial government in civil litigation across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, maintaining an impressive success rate of nearly 80 percent, which reflects their professional competence and dedication.
Arshad Alam also appreciated the efforts of Provincial Minister Aftab Alam, whose support led to the approval of a special allowance for district attorneys last year, contributing significantly to their welfare and professional motivation.
The Secretary Law congratulated the newly elected cabinet and assured them that the department would continue to play its role in resolving the legitimate concerns of law officers. He expressed hope that district attorneys would continue to perform their duties with greater commitment and professionalism.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Aftab Alam praised the services of district attorneys, saying that despite limited resources they were playing a vital role in upholding the rule of law, protecting government interests and facilitating the delivery of justice.
He said the government had already addressed several legitimate demands of district attorneys, while efforts were underway to resolve remaining issues. He further revealed that amendments to the Law Officers Act were under consideration to strengthen and improve the institution.
The minister emphasized that no compromise would be made on service delivery and that all law officers remained accountable for the performance of their professional responsibilities.
Expressing confidence in the new cabinet, Aftab Alam said it would work effectively for the protection of the rights and welfare of law officers and contribute to institutional development. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to addressing the professional and administrative issues faced by law officers.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the minister presented commemorative shields to retiring law officers Noor Zaman, Zubair Khan and Mustafa Kamal in recognition of their distinguished services. Participants paid tribute to the retirees and extended their best wishes for the future.
