KP minister expresses grief over rain-related deaths, urges public to follow safety advisories

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Thursday expressed grief over the deaths of nine people, including a woman, in separate incidents caused by heavy rains and lightning strikes in different parts of the province. In a statement, the minister extended condolences to the bereaved families, describing the loss of lives as a tragic consequence of the recent spell of severe weather. He said the provincial government stood with the affected families in their time of grief and would provide them with all possible assistance. Mr Jan said those injured in the incidents were receiving the best possible medical treatment at hospitals and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and eternal peace for the deceased. He said that, on the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, all relevant departments had been placed on high alert to respond effectively to any emergency arising from the ongoing rains. The minister also urged the public to take precautionary measures and strictly follow safety advisories issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). DLP Report
