KOHAT
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister Aftab Alam and Information Minister Shafi Jan on Wednesday paid tribute to police martyrs, saying their sacrifices had laid the foundation for peace, security and the rule of law in the province.
They were speaking at a Police Martyrs’ Day ceremony held in Kohat, which was attended by Senator Khurram Zeeshan, Kohat Commissioner Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, DIG Kohat Irfan Tariq, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, District Police Officer Rai Mazhar Iqbal, senior civil and police officials, political and social figures, and families of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The participants laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial and offered Fateha for the departed souls.
Addressing the ceremony, the provincial ministers said the sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police personnel had played a key role in restoring peace, combating terrorism, protecting citizens and strengthening the rule of law.
They described the fallen officers as national heroes, saying their courage and dedication had enhanced public confidence in the security institutions.
The ministers reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the families of police martyrs through financial assistance, employment opportunities, educational facilities and welfare initiatives. They said ensuring the dignity and well-being of the families of martyrs was a collective responsibility.
They also paid tribute to police personnel injured during counter-terrorism operations, praising their bravery, resilience and commitment to duty.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the martyrs, the recovery of injured officers and personnel, patience for bereaved families, and peace and prosperity in the country.
