KP: PDMA warns of more rains from today

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted another spell of monsoon rains with thunderstorms and widespread moderate to heavy rainfall in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from Sunday (today). PDMA said that the regional Met Office, Peshawar has predicted widespread to moderate/heavy rainfall over districts of Malakand and Hazara division of the province from 4th to 7th September with occasional gaps. Similarly, Mardan district and Peshawar division will also receive rainfall with thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in the same period of time. “Isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall/thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds is very likely to occur over districts of Kohat, Bannu & Dera Ismail Khan Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 05th & 06th September,2022,” PDMA weather advisory shared. PDMA warned that rains may generate flash flooding in local rivers/nullahs. Moreover, during that period heavy fall may also cause urban flooding in some major cities and may trigger land sliding in vulnerable hilly areas of the province, it warned. The authority has advised travelers and tourists to remain cautious during the forecast period. The authorities concerned have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures.
