KP: PDWP approves 80 projects worth Rs40b

The forum also approves funds for supply of anti-cancer drugs to public sector hospitals

In order to ensure uninterrupted supply of anti-cancer drugs to public sector hospitals of the province, the provincial government on Thursday approved funds in the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting held here on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah also accorded approval to at least 80 projects worth Rs40 billion.
The forum considered at least 80 projects of different sectors, including public health engineering, health, higher education, industry, energy and power, C&W and irrigation sectors.
The approved projects include feasibility for construction of a 53 km road from Zira to Daburi in Orakzai district, a road from Swat Madin to Kalam district and construction of a tunnel from Dir-Lower Maidan to Brawl district.
An official handout quoted the forum saying that those above-mentioned projects will promote tourism as well as it will have a positive impact on the socio-economic life of the people of the area.
The approved projects in the health sector include establishment of X-ray facilities, Khyber Medical University (KMU) Institute of Health Sciences in Swat Matta district and treatment of cancer patients (Phase II), a project of the provincial government to provide free treatment to poor cancer patients.
Establishment of Special Technology Zone in southern districts of KP, feasibility study, designing and construction of Yab Parking Plaza, Solarization of Masjids, Madrasas, Janazahs and Eidgahs of UC Balkot, Shingaldar, Bartuni, Harnel, Shatal, Jodaba, Manjakot, Palusa, Kund Akazai, Mira Madakhel Shadg in Torghar projects also approved by the PDWP.
The meeting also approved establishment of sports facilities at Union Council level in the merged districts, working on the skills and artistic development of students of religious schools, extension of gravity water supply scheme from Laghar and Chin Ghaz Dam to various Union Councils of Karak district.
The forum accorded approval to the establishment of a school for special children in district Mardan Katling, solarisation of mosques in merged districts.
