Male and female players of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have shown excellent performances in the National Volleyball and Hockey Leagues organized under the Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt Program under the aegis of the Higher Education Commission.
Talking to media me Chairman Sports Sciences Department and Director General Sports Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Dr. Farooq Hussain said that the members of the management committee played an important role in the transparent selection of the players as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded victorious in Volleyball and Hockey events.
It is astonishing to see no one is there on behalf of the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or any one of the Directorate General Sports to hold any reception in the honor of the players who gave stunning performances at the national levels.
“The management and the selectors have selected the players on merits and that is why the teams performed well against tough teams of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan,” Dr. Farooq Hussain said. The land of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is quite fertile, which gave birth to many world champions and international players, if facilities and opportunities are provided to the players of our province, they could make their mark in any field, Dr. Farooq Hussain said.
On this occasion Vice Chancellor Peshawar University Professor Dr. Mohammad Idris, Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture University Professor Dr. Bakht Jahan, Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Director Dr. Noorzada thanked the former captain of Pakistan team, international coach Abdul Rahim, Olympian Rahim Khan, Waqas Ahmed, Syed Zahir Shah, for their efforts and hard work, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa players won back titles at the national level.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team won the first position by defeating Punjab in the All Pakistan Volleyball Championship under the Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt program, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White got the third position in hockey.
In this regard, he appreciated the cooperation of Vice Chancellor Peshawar University Professor Dr. Muhammad Idris, Vice Chancellor Agri University Peshawar and Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University for their support to the teams.
The only international quality volleyball academy of the province is being constructed in the premises of Peshawar University while facilities have been developed in all the public sector universities that would give ample opportunities to the players to give good performances at the national level.
