Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Thursday inaugurated a barber shop, duty management office and badminton court at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar to improve facilities and welfare services for police personnel.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed and SSP Operations Farhan Khan received the IGP on his arrival.
According to a police statement, the newly established facilities are equipped with modern amenities and are aimed at improving the well-being, fitness and working conditions of police officers and personnel.
During his visit, the IGP inspected the facilities and reviewed cleanliness and administrative arrangements. CCPO Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed briefed him on the objectives behind setting up the duty management office, also known as the roznamcha, the salon and the badminton court.
Mr Hameed expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and said the welfare, health, fitness and discipline of police personnel were among the department’s top priorities.
He said such initiatives would help promote discipline and a spirit of service within the force. The KP Police, he added, was taking practical steps to improve staff welfare, upgrade infrastructure, make effective use of technology and strengthen professional capacity to provide citizens with an efficient and modern policing system.
The IGP appreciated the efforts of the CCPO and his team, expressing hope that similar initiatives would continue to improve the morale, fitness and performance of police personnel.
Later, Mr Hameed inspected eight refurbished armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and reviewed the construction of barracks at the police lines. He issued directions regarding the ongoing work and said steps were being taken to provide better residential facilities to police personnel.
He appreciated the operational capabilities of the refurbished APCs, saying they would further strengthen the operational capacity of the KP Police.
