KP records eight deaths, 1285 cases

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported eight deaths and 1285 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday. According to a daily situation report of the health department, the provincial tally of deaths from the virus has reached 6,031, with total active infections totaling 12,993. Four of the fresh mortalities occurred in Peshawar, one in Mardan, Two in Hazara, and one in Kohat district.
The provincial capital reported 431 new infections, the report said.
The province also registered 896 recoveries from the virus, taking the number of overall recoveries from the pandemic to 180,171.
There are currently 12,993active cases in the province.
Officials said that the positivity rate of coronavirus was increasing, especially in Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera and Swat districts.
The officials said that the health department was looking towards the district administrations to ensure strict implementation of the precautionary measures against coronavirus. They said that the district headquarters hospitals had been alerted to keep the Covid-19 beds on standby as the number of hospitalisations in Peshawar was increasing.
According to the report, Mardan recorded 275 new Covid-19 cases, Abbottabad 31, Nowshera 64, Malakand 46 , Kohat 51, Lower Chitral 25, Swbai 42, Khyber 20, Bannu 42, and Dera Ismail Khan 18.
KP health department report said the positivity rate was 31 percent in Peshawar, 28 percent in Kohat, 20 percent in Mardan, 11 percent in Malakand, 10 percent in Chitral Lower, 11 percent in Abbottabad.
It said that the province reported a daily positivity rate of 10.6 percent on 2 February and observed one percent decrease compared to previous day.
The KP government has entered the second day of the week’s long door-to-door Coronavirus vaccination in 22 districts of the province.
In order to strengthen the monitoring of vaccination, the KP health department had created a new section to track down progress campaigns in the province.
KP Covid-19 Vaccine daily update shared that 134326 people received 1st and 97106 were administered 2nd dose during the last 24 hours.
Similarly, a total 14990002 people have been given the 1st and 10728364 2nd doses in the province.
According to National Command Operation Centre latest statistics, during the last 24 hours, 752,641 people were partially and 720302 fully vaccinated in the country.
