Adviser to the Chief Minister on Communications and Works and Local Government Asif Rafiq has said that measures will be taken to integrate and digitise the provincial road network to ensure transparency in the Communications and Works sector and further accelerate work on public development projects.
He was chairing a briefing meeting on the affairs of the Communications and Works Department in Peshawar on Monday, according to a handout.
Secretary Communications and Works Saqib Raza Aslam, Additional Secretary Waqas Ahmad, Managing Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority Sohail Idrees and other relevant officials were also present.
During the meeting, Secretary Saqib Raza Aslam briefed the adviser in detail on various departmental matters and ongoing development projects.
He highlighted the significance of key flagship projects, including Sarozai-Hangu Road, Patrak-Kumrat Road and Abbottabad-Nathia Gali Road, stating that focused attention was being given to their implementation.
He noted that Kumrat and Nathia Gali attract large numbers of tourists for recreational activities, making these road projects particularly important for improving access and facilitating tourism.
The secretary further informed the meeting that the department was working on a Road Asset Management System, which would enable the status of all roads across the province, along with other relevant information, to be accessed through a centralised dashboard.
Expressing keen interest in the briefing, Adviser Asif Rafiq directed the department to further accelerate work on public development projects to ensure their timely completion and enable the public to benefit from these initiatives without delay.
