KP to establish new Anti-Corruption Authority

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur Sunday expressed government has decided to replace the Anti-Corruption Establishment with a more effective Anti-Corruption Authority.
Media has reported days before that PTI founder Imran Khan has given Gandapur a 45-day deadline to mend things in the province during a meeting in Adiala jail where he expressed reservations over financial corruption in the KP. During the meeting, Imran Khan cited the report of Accountability Committee presented by senior lawyer Qazi Anwar. The report unearthed corrupt practices committed by government officers in different departments and ministries.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur granted approval for the implementation of a new Anti-Corruption amid deciding that the proposed Anti-Corruption Act will soon be finalized and presented for approval during a meeting. He said the act will be a comprehensive and effective law to curb white-collar crime, developed in line with national and international anti-corruption strategies.
Under the new act, the Anti-Corruption Establishment will be replaced by a more effective Anti-Corruption Authority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Experts would be appointed on merit through the Public Service Commission.
The government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy and aims to strengthen and enhance the anti-corruption system. Ali Amin Gandapur Chief Minister emphasized that the government is serious about eradicating corruption and that the new anti-corruption laws will be implemented soon.
