Memorandum of understanding was signed between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board and PTCL during a ceremony held on Thursday and 5G service was inaugurated on a trial basis in Peshawar. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science and Information Technology and Food Atif Khan, Secretary Science and Information Technology Anbar Ali Khan, Managing Director KPIT Board Sahibzada Ali Mahmood and senior officials of PTCL were present,on the occasion.
Provincial Minister Atif Khan was given a detailed briefing on 5G service on a trial basis by PTCL in Peshawar and was also given a tour of the National Incubation Center.
Talking to media, Provincial Minister Atif Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the first province to launch 5G service on a trial basis after Islamabad.
He further added that the provincial government was focusing great importance on science and information technology sector.
The minister apprised that provincial government was allocating Rs 14 billion for annual development program in coming budget for STIT department? “Information technology Sector has been included mega projects in the annual development budget which will ensure easy provision of services to public and eliminate corruption.
He also said that the establishment of these projects would provide employment opportunities to the youth as well as boost provincial exports.
The provincial minister extended that efforts were being made to provide WiFi service to 25 government colleges and universities.
Atif Khan said that Fiber connectivity is top priority to remote and backward areas, including tourist sites, to ensure the fastest internet connectivity.
