PESHAWAR
An important meeting held here on Tuesday with the provincial minister for health Taimur Saleem Jhagra in the chair, reviewed the implementation of Health Management Information System (HIMS) in public sector hospitals of the province.
Minister for Science and Information Technology Atif Khan also was also present on the occasion.
Secretary Science and Information Technology, Secretary Health and other officials of the both departments attended the meeting.
The forum was informed that the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has successfully launched a Health Management Information System project in various public sector hospitals.
Necessary preparations are underway to start HMIS project initially in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospitals Mardan, Charsadda, Haripur, Swabi, Nasirullah Khan Babar Memorial Hospital Peshawar, Maulvi Ameer Shah i Hospital Peshawar and Sifat Ghayur Shaheed Children Hospital Peshawar.
On this occasion, the Minister for Science and Information Technology said that the provincial government has taken practical steps to launch the process of digitization in government line departments and public sector hospitals of KP.
“The overall objective of the HMIS project is to achieve a sustainable improvement in the coverage and quality of public service delivery in the health sector through the active involvement of IT,” Atif Khan added.
Taimur Saleem Jhagra maintained that technology intervention in the government run hospitals will provide easy access to patients and reduce burden on the administration staff.
In the meeting, it was decided in principle to start the HIMS project in hospitals on a trial basis. The provincial ministers issued instructions to the concerned authorities that all the preparations and other essentials for the start of the project should be completed soon.
