The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the Provincial Disaster Management Plan (PDMP) 2025–2030 to strengthen the province’s disaster management system and reduce losses caused by natural disasters and climate change.
The plan was unveiled at a ceremony chaired by Provincial Minister for Relief Aqib Ullah Khan, who emphasized the importance of preparedness, improved planning, and timely action to safeguard lives and property.
Secretary Relief Sohail Khan described the PDMP as a practical roadmap aligned with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Policy, developed with technical support from the German government through GIZ Pakistan.
The PDMP focuses on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, and will be reviewed regularly to address emerging risks and incorporate new technologies. Senior government officials, disaster management experts, and representatives of UN agencies attended the event, stressing that effective implementation is a key to making KP a safer and more resilient province.
