Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) has been waiting for a permanent chairman for the last three months.
The affairs of the commission are being run through an acting chairman.
Faridullah Khan, who was the last permanent chairman of KPPSC was relieved from the post on September 30, 2021 after completing his three-year term.
Currently, Manzoor-ul-Haq, a member of the commission is holding the charge of the post as an acting chairman.
The commission also lags behind to complete its twelve member panel as three of its members are still to be appointed by the provincial government.
At present the commission members included Manzoor ul Haq, Kamran Zeb, Dr Nawaz, Younis Javed, Sharif Ahmed, Syed Javed, Kifayatullah, Niaz Sarwar Baloch and Subhan Sher.
The majority of the commission members are officers who have retired from the government civil service.
According to sources, the PTI government in its previous term had formed a committee, headed by former provincial finance minister Muzaffar Syed, to reform the commission and regulate its affairs for the efficient performance in recruitment process.
The committee had recommended various recommendations but the then-provincial government failed to implement them in letter and spirit.
Sources said that the incumbent provincial government has also set up another cabinet committee to reform the overall affairs of the commission.
However, no pragmatic steps have been taken in this regard.
It should be noted that the scrutiny committee headed by the Chief Secretary is overseeing the entire process for the appointment of the Chairman Public Service Commission.
However, the process to appoint a full time chairman for the KPPSC is still in limbo and the matters pertaining to the chairman are overseen by an acting chairman.
