KP’s medical students demand online classes

With the Coronavirus cases rising at various medical colleges of the province, scores of students of the medical colleges demanded online classes and promotion on the basis of previous academic year performance.
Students said that corona cases are coming up in different medical colleges on a daily basis.
It is pertinent to mention here that since the outbreak of 2nd Covid-19 spike five students of Khyber Medical College (KMC) affected and one student martyred, three cases have come to light in Kohat Institute of Medical Sciences, four in cases of corona reported from Bannu Medical College, 15 in Women Medical College and two cases of Covid-19 surfaced in Abbottabad International Medical College, Rehman Medical College One case each has come to light in Nowshera Medical College, Ayub Medical College and Swat Medical College. Hostels of Gomal Medical College, Women’s Medical College and Bannu Medical College have been sealed after positive cases. the students of the medical profession of the opinion that physical examination policy at the presence of coronavirus could prove a potential threat to the lives of students.
They appealed to the governor Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and Vice Chancellors of the concerned medical colleges to take notice of the student’s vulnerability to coronavirus in presence of physical classes and demanded that the examinations to be conducted online examination or students should be promoted on the basis of basis of previous academic year performance.
It is to be noted that during the last meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) the participants agreed that there was no need to close educational institutions in the ongoing covid-19 situation. After a cabinet meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan has also opposed the closing of educational institutions across the country. Efforts are being made to improve the quality of education as the closure of educational institutions has caused a lot of damage he added.
