Advocate Abdul Latif Afridi, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, has said in reference to the political crisis in the country that now the question has arisen as to whether the constitution and law have any significance in the country or not.
He said that Supreme Court should make a decision as soon as possible in accordance with the constitution and law while whoever violated the constitution should be punished.
Advocate Abdul Latif Afridi expressed these views while addressing an emergency press conference at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) along with other lawyers.
Imran Khan, Shahbaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman have no interest to become the Prime Minister, adding the country should be ruled by constitution and law, he added.
Abdul Latif Afridi, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said that if there was a holy book in any country of the world, it is a book of constitution and law.
When the vote of no confidence came against the Prime Minister, the Deputy Speaker rejected it with the help of Article 5, the Deputy Speaker disregarded his oath, constitution and law and Parliament and adjourned the sitting. He said the constitution did not allow what the Prime Minister has done, adding that the President was also ready for the Prime Minister’s order to come and he would carry it out.
The lawyer community would raise our voice for the supremacy of the constitution and law, for the independence of the parliament and the judiciary.
Abdul Latif Afridi said that the case is still pending in the Supreme Court. The past of the Supreme Court in this regard is tainted, not weak.
He appealed to the Supreme Court to decide this case as soon as possible and decide according to the constitution and law.
