LG by-elections held in KP amid tight security

PESHAWAR: The local government by-elections were held in seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid tight security.
The polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm. Heavy contingents of the police were deployed to thwart any untoward incident.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) actively participated in the by-elections.
Polling was held at 38 polling stations in Peshawar, four in Swabi, five in Buner, six in Lower Dir, 10 in Karak, 19 polling stations in Tank and 13 in Abbottabad.
In the provincial capital, PTI, JUI-F and ANP secured one seat in total three seats for general and district council.In Union Council 69 in Peshawar, the PTI didn’t retain its seats of general council and this seat was won by ANP candidate Ziarat Gul by getting 870 votes.
In Pajaggi Union Council, JUI-F candidate Masood Gul secured 1,361 votes and defeated PTI candidate Daud Afridi.In Union Council 89, PTI candidate won his seat by obtaining 1,434 votes while his runner-up from JI polled 1384 votes.
TIMERGARA: The by-elections for three youth councillor’s and one general councillor seats were held in Lower Dir peacefully. According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) candidates Mohibullah and Rafiullah in village councils Naway Killay and Kamar Taal Khall won the youth councillors seats while in village council Andheri Manogay Naqeebullah of the Awami National Party (ANP) grabbed the general councillor seat.
The JI candidate Mahibullah secured 317 votes while the runners up Naveed Iqbal of the ANP secured 310 votes and JI candidate Rafiullah grabbed 249 votes while his runners up Sadiqullah of the PTI secured 233 votes.
Likewise, in village council Andheri Manoga ANP candidate Naqibullah secured 239 votes while the runners up Niaz Ali secured 215 votes.
