PESHAWAR
The local government representatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have postponed their protest and sit-in scheduled for September 4 after a meeting with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur at the CM House Peshawar here on Tuesday. The Provincial Action Council, a council of the chairmen and mayors, has announced a sit-in protest in front of the Chief Minister’s House on September 4, citing unfulfilled promises by the KP government.
The council’s chairman, Himayatullah Mayar, had stated that mayors, chairmen, and councilors from all tehsils will gather at Jinnah Park Peshawar on Sept 4th and will hold a sit-in outside CM House.
However, the rally and sit-in was postponed on Tuesday evening after a meeting with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in CM House.
The announcement was made by the chairman of the Provincial Action Council Himayatullah Mayar.
Himayatullah Mayar, who is mayor of Mardan City, said the provincial government had assured the representatives that their powers will be restored, and funds will be provided easily.
The Local Government Act 2019 Amendment will be restored, and legal complications will be removed, he added.
