LAHORE: While hearing a plea challenging local police failure to produce designer and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activist Khadijah Shah before judicial magistrate after expiry of judicial remand on Thursday, Lahore High Court issued directions to produce the accused person before court today (Friday). A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court led by Justice Shahbaz Rizvi issued the directives in response to a petition of Khadijah Shah’s father and former finance minister Salman Shah and husband Jahanzeb Amin. During the course of proceedings, SSP (Investigation) Dr Anoosh Masood appeared before the bench and submitted a reply in the matter. The court was apprised that the suspect was not presented for an extension of physical remand to which the bench observed, “How will a remand be granted in this situation?”. The court expressed displeasure over not presenting Khadijah Shah in the court and inquired as to why she was not presented. It pointed out that the court order of May 31 was clear. However, the SSP could not give a satisfactory reply to the court, it has been reported. It is pertinent to mention that petitioners have challenged the move of not producing Khadijah Shah, and sought her release. TLTP
