LAHORE, November 10 (Online): Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court (LHC) Qasim Khan has imposed ban on giving any gifts by sessions judges and senior civil judges during the visit of courts in different districts by inspection judges including CJ.
Under the directives of CJ LHC, copy of notification of orders has been sent to sessions and senior civil judges in the province.
The custom was being pursued in Punjab since long if CJ LHC or any judge of LHC visited any district as inspection judge he was accorded warm welcome and when he returned on conclusion of visit, then district judiciary gave precious gifts to him.
CJ LHC has done away with this tradition and ban has been slapped on the sessions judges and senior civil judges that no gift will be given to any judge of high court on his arrival.
The lawyers community has lauded this move by CJ LHC saying such restrictions will strengthen the institution.
