LHC moved for banning controversial film ‘Joyland’

LAHORE: Plea to ban the screening of disputed film ‘Joyland’ has been submitted in Lahore High Court (LHC). Muhammad Bilal Shafiq on the behalf of advocate Abid Hussain Khichi has made federal and provincial ministry of information, Pakistan Media Development Authority (PDMA) and Censor Board, PEMRA and others respondents. Applicant adopted a stance that the film is against Sharia and religious values which can break family system in Islamic society. He pleaded that film is against the Pakistani and Islamic laws and the license for screening of such film cannot be issued.Therefore, permanent ban on exhibition of this film in Pakistan be imposed. Censorship certificate and license of this film be cancelled. Online
