LHC moved for fixing price of wheat Rs 4000 per maund in Punjab

LAHORE: Petition has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) for fixing the price of wheat Rs 4000 per maund in Punjab. The petition was filed by a farmer of Chiniot through advocate Ghulam Abbas Haral making Punjab government, secretary food department and Director General (DG) PASCO respondents. The petition said agriculture sector makes up for deficiency of food in our country. Government is fixing the rate of wheat Rs 2200 per maund while expenses per acre stand at Rs 3600. It has been said in the petition government is not purchasing wheat from the farmers. Fixing the rate of wheat less is illegal and injustice with farming community. It has been requested in the petition that LHC should order government to fix rate of wheat Rs 4000 per maund. Court should order government for framing policy in regard to purchase of wheat.
