LHC rejects plea for broadcasting live court’s proceedings

LAHORE
Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected the plea for broadcasting live the court proceedings declaring it inadmissible. The court directed the petitioner to resort to Supreme Court (SC).
Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza took up for hearing the petition filed by citizen Muhammad Shahbaz and others.
Federal government, PEMRA and others have been made respondents in the petition.
The counsel for petitioner took the plea court’s proceedings is broad cast live in other countries including India. Audio, video recording of the court’s proceedings should be done.
The lawyers from small cities should be allowed to appear in high court through video link.
The petitioner requested the court to order for broadcasting court’s proceedings live.
Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza remarked Lahore High Court does not have legal authority to issue such orders.
The court while directing the petitioner to move to Supreme Court dismissed the petition declaring it non-maintainable.
