LHC seeks detailed report from foreign ministry about Pakistanis in Iranian jails

LAHORE, Jan 18 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought detialed reply from foreign minisry about Pakistanis in Iranian jails.

The case filed by Justice Project Pakistan in respect of Pakistanis in Iranian jails came up for hearing before the court of Justice Shahid Wahid.

Assistant director Iran and Turkey desk Saima Khan appeared in the court on behalf of foreign ministry.

Foreign minisry filed list of Pakistanis who are in Iranian jails.

The court ordered the foreign ministry to file detailed report on the steps taken for return of convicted Pakistani prisoners.

As per foreign ministry report there were 102 Pakiistani prisoners in the jails of Iran and among them 14 prisoners were brought back to Pakistan in July.

The court while giving two weeks time to foreign ministry to file reply adjourned the hearing of the case till February 01.
