Vaccination centers set up for govt employees in civil secretariat, University of Peshawar

The MTI Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on Monday resumed OPD services with SOPs after three months suspension as the provincial government started mass vaccination against the Covid-19.
A decision to this effect was made by the Board of Governors, according to a press release issued by the hospital. The management has taken all necessary steps for resuming the services in accordance with the laid down SOPs to prevent the Covid-19 infections. No one without a mask will be allowed to enter the hospital and a patient will be accompanied by only one attendant, said the hospital authority.
There will be two screening triages one in the accident and emergency department and the other in the old male OPD.
The hospital announced it has initially resumed the OPD services of Gynecology, Children, ENT, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Urology, Psychiatry, and Rheumatology units.
According to the data shared by the hospital authority the hospital still has around 85 coronavirus infected patients.
The decision to open one of the major hospitals of the province as the provincial government has initiated the service of mass vaccination in the province.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health department data, there are 529 vaccination centers and 42 mobile vaccination teams in the different districts of the province.
A vaccination center will also be operational at the Civil Secretariat and the University of Peshawar from today (Tuesday) to facilitate government employees.
On May 25 the provincial government has established around 25, 295 vaccination centers of which 234 more added. The total number of coronavirus vaccination centers in the province has reached 529.
According to Syed Imtiaz Hussain, secretary of health KP that vaccination centers have been set up at the tehsil level for the facilitation of the citizens.
These vaccination centers were also set up in rural health centers and BHUs in villages so that the citizens could easily get vaccinated against coronavirus.
He said that the health department was taking steps to set up 240 more vaccination centers. Referring to mobile vaccination centers, he said that at present 42 mobile vaccination teams in more than 10 districts are going to remote areas to vaccinate citizens.
Two major vaccination centers one in the University of Peshawar and others in the civil secretariat Peshawar to be operationalized for government employees.
It was decided at a meeting that a campaign would be launched to make the citizens aware of the benefits of the Corona vaccine while the negative propaganda regarding vaccination would also be countered.
In the next couple of weeks, 39 more mobile vaccination teams will be sent to remote areas of the province to vaccinate senior citizens at their doorsteps, KP health department shared.
