ISLAMABAD, March 31 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) while rejecting the ministry of education national services report in uniform education syllabus case has maintained education ministry report is not satisfactory and the matter of uniform syllabus is being prolonged.
The court further remarked no concrete steps have been taken for uniform syllabus. Education ministry should complete its work on the matter of uniform syllabus.
The court summoned education secretary on next hearing.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the CJP took up the case for hearing Wednesday, March 31, 2021
The CJP remarked during the hearing of the case education ministry will not be able to do the work on uniform syllabus,. During our time there was no issue of syllabus. 73 years have been elapsed after the creation of Pakistan. But we have not resolved the matter of syllabus so far. Take out 1960 syllabus and introduce it for the students. There was the best religious harmony in 1960 syllabus. Education ministry has no courage to evolve new syllabus. Don’t ruin the whole nation. Education secretary should resolve the issue of the syllabus within a month.
During the hearing of the case the chairman Minorities commission Shoaib Saddal told the court religious material has been incorporated in compulsory subjects of Urdu and English and we have to remove religious material from compulsory subjects.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
