The Mayor Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali paid a surprise visit to the General Bus Stand here on Saturday.
The Mayor inspected basic amenities and cleanliness of the various stands of the vehicles.
The mayor of Peshawar expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of facilities and lack of cleanliness and the establishment of hotels in shops adjacent to drains.
Haji Zubair Ali during his visit also met the citizens and got information from them about fares and facilities.
On this occasion, a number of citizens complained about the increases in fares.
He directed the department concerned to ensure the provision of hygiene and all other facilities to passengers in the General Bus Stand. Mayor Peshawar also summoned a comprehensive report from the department concerned; adding that transport department officials should ensure availability of clean drinking water and proper spaces for passengers in the stand.
Haji Zubair Ali said that strict legal action will be taken against the staff concerned after receiving complaints from citizens. He said that the General Bus Stand will be equipped with all modern facilities.
