PESHAWAR
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Wednesday said that media houses profit increased more than 40 percent in the last two years.
Fawad Chaudhry urged the owners of media houses, including print and electronic, to increase the salaries of their workers as the country experienced unprecedented inflation due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Information Minister expressed these views during his visit to Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and participated in a condolence reference held in memory of senior journalists late Rahimullah Yousifzai and Hafiz Sanaullah.
Talking to the media, he said that all possible steps have been taken to protect the rights of working journalists and provide them legal protection in the recently introduced legislation.
Fawad Chudary on this occasion lauded the journalistic services of Rahimullah Yousifzai and Hafiz Salaullah and paid a great tribute to working journalists of Peshawar and tribal areas.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was the first province where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) laid the foundation of its government, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to make Pakistan a welfare state.
To a question, he said that opposition parties have lost their popularity among the masses after PTI entered into politics as it had eradicated the culture of two party systems in the country.
The Information Minister said that the PTI government has completed its preparation to launch the Rashan-Card scheme as it successfully launched the Sehat Insaf Card in KP and Punjab.
He further said that PML-N and PPP leadership have always criticized the incumbent government for political gains but never tried to cooperate with the ruling party inside the parliament on issues pertaining to public welfare.
Pakistan under the leadership of Imran Khan played an exemplary role in the Coronavirus pandemic, he added that despite of Covid-19 related problems a number of sectors achieved their annual targets.
Agriculture sector produces bumper crops, and the construction industry has attracted more than a thousand investments, he added.
Responding to a question, the information minister said that the PTI government has cordial relations with all its political allies and the opposition would suffer another defeat if they come up with a no-confidence vote in the national assembly.
