Meeting held to review digitalization of livestock in KP

An important meeting held here on Wednesday with secretary livestock, fisheries and cooperative department, Dr Muhammad Israr in the chair.
The forum discussed digitalization of livestock in the public sector regarding animal records, production, feeding, protection against diseases, other health and management aspects and farm assets on the analogy of tele-farming being practiced at agriculture Extension department.
The Director General livestock research Dr Muhammad Ijaz Ali , Additional Secretary Livestock Asghar Khan , Registrar Co-operative. Farhan Khan and officers from livestock, fisheries and agriculture department were present in the meeting.
The Secretary emphasized the need for digitalization and the conversion of current paper based documentation to real time databases with quick access to all sorts of information of the Livestock farms and animals.
To assist in this new initiative, the Secretary LFC specially invited resource persons of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and the Agriculture Department having expertise in the subject matter.
Dr Asim Ijaz, Director General of BISP, presented the digital services platform system features with various suggestions for existing module improvements and further review.
He assured the forum of their cooperation in digitizing the Livestock Farms in accordance with the BISP database model as and when needed.
The Additional Secretary Mr. Asghar, who is looking after the proposed digitization project, informed about the Annual Development Program (ADP) scheme, different parameters and plan of work.
The Technical expert from Agriculture Extension Department briefly explained the features of the Tele-farming System and assured of the support required for the project.
It was unanimously agreed to benefit from the technical services of Tele Farming relevant experts for the digitalization of livestock in the initial phase till hiring of consultants.
To ensure professional and efficient digitalization as per PC-1 guidelines, the services of a consultant will be hired. Additionally, efforts will be made to secure donor support to overcome financial obstacles.
