PESHAWAR
An important meeting held here on Thursday with the provincial minister for public health engineering Shakeel Khan in the chair, reviewed progress so far made on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sanitation policy.
The meeting was informed that provincial sanitation policy has been prepared and in the next meeting of the cabinet it would be approved by the forum.
It added that implementation of the policy in letter and spirit would end discrepancies and problems pertaining to sanitation services in the province.
Provincial minister Shakeel Ahmad Khan was told that the approval of the policy will improve the sanitation system in the province. In the briefing, various aspects of the policy were discussed in detail. The approval of the policy is still pending from the cabinet. On this occasion, provincial minister Shakeel Ahmed issued instructions to the relevant authorities and said that they should send the sanitation policy to the next meeting of the cabinet as soon as possible so that they can play a role in ensuring a clean environment by approving it.
He said that this is the first provincial policy devised in line with modern needs and services required for achieving standard sanitation goals.
Mr Shahkeel Khan directed concerned officials to prepare a pragmatic mechanism to ensure implementation of the policy and its practices.
“The provincial government is striving for the betterment of the people and all resources would be utilized to provide best facilities to people on their doorstep,” he added.
