Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Fazal Shakoor Khan on Thursday directed the Communications and Works (C&W) Department to accelerate development projects in Charsadda, particularly in constituency PK-65, and ensure their completion within the stipulated time.
He issued the directives while presiding over a review meeting on new and ongoing C&W projects in the district.
Executive Engineer, Highway Division Charsadda, and other relevant officials briefed the minister on ongoing, completed and near-completion schemes.
The briefing covered road construction and rehabilitation projects, improvement of link roads, progress on development schemes and issues affecting their timely completion.
Mr Khan sought detailed updates on the status and quality of work, deadlines and problems faced by local residents.
He directed officials to speed up work on ongoing schemes and complete projects nearing completion on a priority basis so that people could benefit from improved infrastructure at the earliest.
The minister said no compromise would be tolerated on the quality of development projects and directed officials to ensure adherence to prescribed standards.
He said provision of basic facilities and public welfare were among the government’s priorities, adding that projects aimed at improving transportation and connectivity between different areas should receive particular attention.
Mr Khan also directed officials to take local needs and public concerns into account while planning new development schemes.
He asked the officers to identify and remove hurdles affecting ongoing projects through mutual consultation and ensure their timely completion.
The minister stressed effective monitoring, quality control and timely implementation of development schemes, saying these measures would help improve public facilities and promote sustainable development in Charsadda, particularly in PK-65.
