Minister orders timely completion of mass transit projects

The forum reviewed progress on circular railway project, construction of transport complex on GT Road

An important meeting held here on Wednesday with minister for transport and mass transit Malik Shah Muhammad Khan in the chair, reviewed progress so far made on different developmental schemes of the department.
Additional secretary transport, director transport, project director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa urban mobility authority, director BRT, CEO Trans Peshawar, BRT Consultant, Deputy Director PDA and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
A statement issued said that the forum was given a detailed briefing on new and ongoing Annual Development Programs (ADP) schemes, AIP and public private partnership schemes and projects in the province and the merged tribal districts.
In the meeting, various schemes including establishment of transport inspection stations in KP a, feasibility study of Greater Peshawar Region mass transit, the circular railway project, feasibility and establishment of trucking terminals in KP, construction of transport complex on GT Road Peshawar and Bannu district were reviewed.
The establishment of regional transport authority offices in Swat, the construction of Peshawar mass transit system, the establishment of transport facilitation centers in the adjoining districts and other schemes were also discussed in the meeting.
Provincial Minister Malik Shah Muhammad Khan Wazir issued instructions to the concerned authorities to speed up the work on the above-mention projects and to complete all the projects on time in the better interest of the people.
In the meeting, a committee was formed to conduct the feasibility study of the Greater Peshawar region mass Transit, circular railroad project.
Director transport, project director urban mobility authority, senior planning officer, deputy director technical and civil, department of transport were made members of the committee, the statement read.
The provincial minister said that all resources are being utilized to improve the transport system, adding that the provincial government was taking all possible steps to provide facilities to the people.
