Minister terms WB role pivotal for capacity building in tech sector

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque has said that the World Bank has a pivotal role for the capacity building in the technology sector of Pakistan. The minister said this during a meeting with World Bank Country Director Najy Benhassine who called on him on Wednesday. Matters related to connectivity and e-governance were discussed during the meeting.
Haque said that under the Digital Pakistan vision, the Ministry of IT & Telecom is committed to end the digital divide between urban and rural areas of the country. He said that steps are being taken for the provision of broadband services in unserved and underserved areas of the country. He said that the IT sector of Pakistan has great potential.
The World Bank country director lauded the IT ministry’s steps for connectivity and digitalisation.
Secretary IT Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
