PESHAWAR: A surge in mobile phone and motorcycle snatching incidents has made life increasingly difficult for residents of Peshawar, the provincial capital. Citizens complain that police performance has been reduced to mere meetings and statements, with little action on the ground. According to reports, a growing wave of violent street crimes has sparked serious questions about the efficiency of police investigation teams. Sources say that the investigative units are operating with minimal resources and inadequate facilities, directly affecting their ability to solve cases. Despite frequent changes in Station House Officers (SHOs), locals say that there is still no sign of peace or security in the city. “Every day we hear of new snatching incidents. The public has lost confidence in the police,” said one resident. Public representatives and citizens have urged the provincial government to immediately establish a special anti-snatching unit that can respond swiftly to such crimes and ensure justice for victims.
