Modern tech key to transparency, efficiency: Speaker Swati

Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, said institutional reforms and adoption of modern technology were essential for strengthening transparency, accountability, and efficient use of resources.
He was speaking during a meeting in his chamber with a delegation led by Controller General of Accounts Pakistan, Umar Ali Khan. The delegation included Accountant General KP Khalid Mahmood and Additional Accountant General Saif-ul-Islam.
Also present were Secretary Provincial Assembly Syed Waqar Shah and Principal Secretary to the Speaker Mian Muhammad Sarir.
Controller General Umar Ali Khan briefed the Speaker on ongoing reforms in the department, including modern accounting systems, digitalization initiatives, and the use of artificial intelligence in public financial management. He said these measures would align financial management with contemporary requirements and improve institutional performance.
The delegation presented proposals to introduce greater innovation and transparency in the Provincial Assembly’s accounting system, outlining the benefits of modern financial governance.
Swati appreciated the efforts of the Controller General and his team. He also highlighted steps taken by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to improve governance, administrative reforms, and institutional capacity building.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote modern, efficient, and transparent systems in public institutions.
