Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) lawmaker Abdul Qadir Patel said Saturday that journalist Mohsin Baig was apprehended by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on government’s will, to divert nation’s attention from record twelve rupees per liter hike in petroleum prices.
While addressing a press talk at Sindh Assembly’s committee room, the PPP lawmaker said that he was supposed to counter the allegations leveled by Federal Minister Murad Saeed against his party’s leadership. Murad had held a press conference earlier on Friday, to clear his position on arrest of journalist and media personality Mohsin Jameel Baig, who was held by the FIA on Murad’s complain.
“Minister and his fellows kept maligning our leaderships but we refrained ourselves from replying, as per the guidelines of our party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari” Patel said, adding that Bilawal had directed party representatives ‘not to derogate parliament house’.
“They think they are very good orators. Speaker has also acted partially. They keep yelling for hours and our microphones are immediately turned off” Patel said, while complaining of speaker’s alleged partiality during National Assembly sessions.
Talking about the arrest of journalist Mohsin Baig, Patel said that the media personality had only quoted Reham Khan’s book in his analysis, which was published in London.
Patel called Murad Saeed’s performance as ‘failure’ and said that graft-scandals of billions of rupees came to light during Saeed’s tenure as Communication Minister. “Tool tax was hiked by thousand rupees. Anyone can rule by imposing taxes, you don’t need any vision or performance in such case” he maintained.
