MOU to protect youth from terrorism inked

In an effort to prevent the young generation from the threat of violent terrorism, a Memorandum of Understanding MOU) was signed between Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) and National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shah Farman was the chief guest while Special Assistant for Higher Education Kamran Bangash, Director-General NECT Mohammad Ali Baba Khel was also present.
Addressing the function, Shah Farman said that war psychology was implemented in our region in a very systematic manner.
He said that we have overcome extremism and terrorism according to our traditions and culture, we should not go beyond our traditions and culture and we should not allow them to deteriorate.
We need to get the younger generation out of the trend of extremism and drug addiction.
Shah Farman said that special legislation is needed to completely eradicate drug use in universities, according to which the performance of Vice-Chancellors and faculty members in drug prevention should be improved.
He said that steps should be taken to curb the use of narcotics in the form of medicine, adding that it was the responsibility of KMU to stop the sale of drugs in the form of medicine.
Welcoming the MoU in his address, Bangash said that the move would go a long way in protecting the young generation of educationists of the higher education universities of the province from inclining towards extremism.
We have protected our young generation in which the role of higher education institutions are very important he added.
In his address to the function, DG NECTA Muhammad Ali Babakhel also termed the MoU as an excellent initiative.
The function was also attended by Principal Secretary to Governor Muhammad Idrees Khan, Secretary Higher Education Dawood Khan and Vice-Chancellors of Universities.
