The deputy chairman senate Saleem Mandviwala said on Thursday that the business community’s reservations about the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) actions were responsible for slamming the brakes on economic growth in the country, adding that actions against businessmen were unacceptable.
During a visit to Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran Khan were informed through a letter that NAB had created problems for the business community by involving them in legal battles.
During the last so many years the NAB has affected the performance of the major business institutions and they are seeking government help to protect their business in the country, adding that the business community was the backbone of the country’s progress and the bureau was not ready to resolve its genuine problems.
He said that the incumbent government will bite the dust in the case of showing a hand voting system in the senate as it’s not the mandate of the judiciary to settle down the dispute of legislation.
He said that the opposition resignations from the provincial and national assemblies could affect the upcoming senate election.
He said that if the federal government was required and bound to bring amendments in the election laws if still persistent to hold senate elections through show of hand, adding that politics of the country required prudent decisions.
