NAB briefs PAC on ‘recoveries’

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday did not appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) after being tested positive for corona virus. However, Director General (DG) NAB Hasnain Ahmad in place of his chairman appeared before the committee meeting on Wednesday and briefed committee members about recoveries made by the apex anti-graft body. According to details, meeting of the Public Accounts Committee was held Wednesday under the chair of Rana Tanvir Hussain. At the beginning, Chairman Committee told members that NAB chairman had tested positive for Omicron and he was unable to appear before the meeting. However, Rana Tanvir Hussain told committee members that DG NAB would appear before PAC. DG NAB told committee members that different units of anti-corruption body had recovered 54.631 billion rupees in cash. NAB Lahore recovered 19 billion rupees, NAB Karachi recovered 9 billions, NAB KPK recovered 3 billion rupees, NAB Balochistan recovered 2 billion, while the recoveries made by NAB Rawalpindi and NAB Multan were 2.479 billion rupees, DG NAB told PAC. He further revealed that NAB Sukkur had made cash recoveries of 2 billion rupees while NAB Headquarters had recovered 3 billion rupees. Online
