National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started investigation into alleged irregularities in the Federal Ministry of Housing and Construction, violation of merit, misuse of power and illegal recruitment and also sent notices to the concerned officers in this regard.
Sources said that the rules in the Federal Ministry of Housing and Construction and its various departments including Pakistan Housing Authority and Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation had been pushed back during the last three years and recruitments were made against the rules and merit in these departments.
The NAB had received several complaints in this regard and a preliminary investigation is underway.
Grade 1 to 16 recruitments were awarded to people from specific areas and during the recruitment process, political affiliation was given priority over merit.
The various departments of the ministry had started special projects where the Federal Public Service Commission was ignored for the appointment of officers of grade 17 and above and direct recruitment was done with the permission of the competent authority.
Sources said that notices have been sent to senior officials of the ministry and heads of various departments in the light of their alleged involvement in the case.
NAB sources have confirmed that the inquiry into the complaint has not been completed yet. Allegations have also been made and are being verified as there are other allegations of corruption including recruitment which will be investigated and further action will be taken after verification.
