A new digital fingerprint verification system has been launched through a collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Officials confirmed that applicants can now verify their fingerprints directly through NADRA’s Pak ID mobile application, making the procedure more accessible for users at home and abroad.
In situations where fingerprint scanning often fails due to worn fingerprints or technical issues, the system will automatically offer an alternative facial verification option to prevent delays.
Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal, noted that a large number of overseas Pakistanis had reported difficulties with the previous online fingerprint system.
He said the new verification tools are expected to provide considerable relief to expatriates as well as senior citizens, who frequently encounter issues with biometric authentication.Jamal added that the government is committed to integrating modern technology across its digital services.
He emphasised that the upgraded verification framework is part of a broader initiative to ensure citizens can access passport and identity-related facilities with greater ease, accuracy, and reliability.
