Narcotics seize in Torkham

Smuggling of a huge cache of hashish, opium and cocaine from Afghanistan to Pakistan was foiled by the custom officials here at Michni checkpoint, Torkham border on Saturday.
Additional custom collector in Torkham Muhammad Tayyab said that last day the on duty custom crew stopped an Afghanistan returned empty holding registration no.(RIJ-9175) for routine examination.
During the search they recovered narcotics including 160 kg hashish, 35 kg opium and 06 kg cocaine, concealed in various cavities of the vehicle.
Price of narcotics is approximately 80 million rupees in the open market.
First time ever the drug, cocaine has been seized at the Pak-Afghan sharing border, Torkham, Muhammad Tayyab said.
The drug pusher identified as Kifatullah beside the truck and the contraband item was taken into legal custody for further investigation, the official informed.
The custom highup claimed that in the last two months 3.60 billion rupees worth of drugs have been seized at Torkham border.
