The Narcotics Control Wing and Excise Peshawar Region on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a person for trying to smuggle heroin by hiding them in 43 capsules which he had allegedly swallowed.
The Narcotics Wing has received a tip-off from reliable sources that a smuggler would make an attempt to smuggle heroin from Peshawar to Islamabad in capsules. Taking timely action, the force formed a team and arrested a suspect with heroin capsules.
Zahid Iqbal, Excise and Taxation officer told reporters that the accused had swallowed 43 capsules and was trying to smuggle them Dubia via Islamabad International Airport.
The arrested person has been identified as Kashan Ahmad. The officer maintained that the accused was a member of a drug smuggling gang.
Syed Haider Iqbal, Secretary of Excise Department, Zafarul Islam, Director General of Excise Department has appreciated the force for taking strict action and recovered drugs from a smuggler.
\It is pertinent to mention here that the department concerned has launched a crackdown on the drug pushers across the province.
