NEECA held seminar on energy efficiency at building sector

In an effort to make building sector connect with the debate of energy efficiency for sustainable development by involving all stockholders, National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) held one day seminar titled “ Step Toward NEECCA Certified Energy Efficient Building and other Appliances”.
Aimed at providing platform for policymaker’s real estate developers, energy experts, and concerned stakeholders for generating the debate on energy efficiency and conservation within the buildings sector.
In addition, how the targeted beneficiaries can be enabled to incorporate efficient energy use practices, which are influenced by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation strategy, proposed by NEECA.
The seminar was followed by architects, builders and distinct speakers, including the Managing Director NEECA, Chairman, Pakistan HVACR Society, President, ASHRAE Pakistan; CEO, PGBC; Head of Technical Unit NEECA, Senior PEC Representative, CDA (Member Planning & infrastructure).
All speakers highlighted the importance of Energy Efficiency and Conservation in the building sector, in addition to its relationship with policy, innovation, and climate change mitigation.
Managing Director (MD) NEECA Dr Sardar Muhazzam said that NEECA has set a goal to achieve 0.5 MTOE in 3-years.
He said that we have initially chosen 5 major appliances for setting standards.
Dr Muhazzam said that we have put standards for lighting (LED) and fans for the first time and we would further replicate it into other appliances as well.
He further said that we have planned to train energy auditors and managers for the market, to overcome the shortage of trained resources.
Ahmad Hasnain, who is the National Project Manager at NEECA, highlighted that we have worked hard to set standards for LED lighting, and the LED lights are available in the market.
He further said that we are giving loans of up to 2500 USD with terms and conditions for refurbishing and repairing.
