NEPRA announces hike in power tariff

Another electric shock for the people as the NEPRA notified Rs1.55 per unit increase in the electricity price on Friday. The hike, which will take effect from July 1, 2022, will put an additional burden of Rs39 billion on the consumers for a period of three months. However, the NEPRA exempted the lifeline and K-Electric consumers from the hike. Earlier, it was reported that the (NEPRA) notified Rs7.90 per unit increase in power tariff for the month of May, which would put an additional burden of Rs113 billion on the consumers of 10 power distribution companies.
