NLC restrains from construction in Torkham

Khugakhel tribesmen continued their protest sit-in on the third consecutive day on Wednesday and forcefully restrained the National Logistic Cell from the construction work underway in Torkham border.
A mob of hundreds of angry Khugakhel tribesmen gathered at Bacha Khan Chowk in Landikotal bazaar and chanted slogans. They later marched toward Torkham border while holding black flags in their hands.
The protesters, led by Mufti Muhammad Ejaz and Mirajuddin Shinwari, marched toward Torkham,seven kilometers from Landikotal bazaar. Police at various spots tried to stop them entering the Torkham border locality but failed to handle the angry mob and entered Torkham border.
Police arrested fourteen protesters at Michni checkpost to duspersed the mob while the rest of protesters crossed the check post and entered Torkham.
Khugakhel tribesmen claimed to have stopped NCL to continue its construction work on their land in Torkham.However, no untoward incident happened on the third day.
Meanwhile, few rounds of talks were also held between the Khugakhel elders and NLC assinged Jirga members but could not end the protest.
He said they have constituted a 30 members committee who would held talks with NLC and other concern officials today(Thursday) to resolve tge issue peacefully. He confirmed that all kinds of construction work had been stopped by NLC until their demands not accepted.
It may be mentioned here that Khugakhel tribesmen were protesting against the alleged grabbing of their property by NLC in Torkham where construction work of NLC offices,dry port, immigration and other civil offices were being constructed.
Naujawanan-e-Qavail president Israr Shinwari said that their protest sit-in would be continue till the release of their tribesmen.
