Energy secretary has said electricity prices will remain stable till July 2026 and no increase will be made in power tariff till the end of current fiscal year.
According to media reports energy secretary said power division has evolved such a plan that people will have to face no additional burden.
The increase or decrease in electricity tariff is made on the basis of monthly fuel cost adjustment, quarterly adjustment or annual tariff petition. Basic tariff was curtailed at the beginning of the current year.
Decrease has been recorded in the tariff mostly under Fuel cost adjustment too. It has left positive impact on inflation ratio.
He said more relief has been provided to people this year as compared to last year.
On the other side power division authorities have said announcement to grant more relief in electricity bills in respect of flood affectees will be made in next two or three days.
The authorities said consultation with IMF has been completed in regard to this relief.
