Officials foil a bid of smuggling of wild birds at Torkham border


KHYBER: A bid of smuggling of precious birds from Pakistan to Afghanistan was foiled by the wildlife department here at Torkham border on Thursday. Divisional forest and wildlife officer (DFO) ,Khyber Haleem Marwat said that on tip off a joint operation of wildlife and custom department was carried out and four falcons were recovered from the luggage of an Afghanistan bound pedestrian who wanted to smuggle it. As per rules of the wildlife department, the criminals were released after fine. DFO Haleem Marwat and Assistant DFO Waseemullah Khan said that the department has organized a proper set up in the district to safeguard the wildlife. They added that the seized birds would be set free in a natural environment. Our Correspondent
