Open House and Career Fair Organized at COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Wah Campus organized an Open House and Job Fair on Thursday, December 19, 2024 for the graduating students of Fall Semester 2024. A total of 148 students from Management Sciences, and Computer Sciences Departments showcased 71 Final Year Projects (FYPs) which portrayed their professional skills and expertise for industries. Representatives from more than 60 companies evaluated projects, conducted interviews, and shortlisted students for job placements/internships.
Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Bhatti, In-Charge, Career Development Center (CDC), highlighted the CDC’s role and the event details.
The Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, T.I., warmly welcomed industry representatives, the chief guest, evaluators, and students to the Open House and Career Fair at CUI Wah Campus. In his address, Prof. Dr. Abid emphasized the availability of exceptional talent at the campus and encouraged companies to leverage students’ skills for the advancement of both industry and the nation.
Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Vice Chairman, National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) and Member for Information Technology at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, graced the event as Chief Guest for opening session, shared HEC vision for establishing Data Centers and High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities in Pakistan. These initiatives will not only create job opportunities for skilled graduates but also reduce significant government expenditures currently paid to international service providers. Prof. Jamil extended his support for CUI’s participation in these national projects, recognizing the institution’s commitment to high-quality education and ranking. He further highlighted the crucial role of industry-academia collaboration in preparing graduates for the workforce.
Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Rector, CUI, expressed gratitude to the chief guest for his insightful contributions and highlighted the role of events like the Open House and FYP expos in bridging the gap between academia and industry. He underscored the importance of equipping graduates to meet the challenges of rapid technological advancements, such as the growing influence of artificial intelligence. Prof. Dr. Qamar urged faculty, researchers, and students to collaborate with international and national organizations for innovative ideas and reaffirmed that all CUI campuses maintain equal standards of teaching and learning. He also highlighted CUI’s commitment to providing scholarships, particularly for students from campuses in remote areas.
At the closing ceremony Prof. Dr. Jameel un Nabi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Wah was the Chief Guest. Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF), Dr Mehdi Taheri, President of Iran Khanah Farhang Rawalpindi, Mr Majid Meshki, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Iran also joined as Guest of Honors.
The event concluded with certificates presented to the winning FYP teams, along with a vote of thanks delivered by the Campus Director.
