Opposition should have participated in NSC meeting: NA speaker


Speaker National Assembly (NA) Asad Qaisar has said opposition should have attended National Security Committee (NSC) meeting.

The NSC met under speaker NA Asad Qaisar Monday.

National Security advisor Moeed Yusuf told the committee draft of National security policy has been worked out for the first time in the history of the country. National security division has worked out draft of national security policy. Guidelines of country security policy are laid down in draft bill. Policy will be presented in cabinet meeting and parliament. Security policy includes security of economy of the country, food security, water security, military security, foreign policy, increase in population and terrorism.

Kashmir issue, Afghan issue and relations with other countries of the region are part of policy. The respective ministries are also included in the policy which will ensure its implementation.

Shahzad wasim, Kamil Ali Agha, Faisal Sabzwari, Alia Hamza Malik asked several questions from Moid Yusuf.

Moeed Yusuf told them while avoiding to give reply to sensitive questions that we have framed policy and its implementation will be responsibility of respective ministries. 9 ministries have vital role in the policy. Its implementation will be responsibility of respective ministries. Energy security, food security, economic security and water security are much important as defence security.

Bitter remarks were exchanged between Shireen Mazari and senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar.
On the question asked by Shireen Mazari on the issue of enforced disappearances, Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar said she should ask such questions in the meeting of cabinet. You become champion on the matter of enforced disappearances then why do you not resign. Who will speak on the matter of those who were subjected to terror and atrocities by BLA terrorists. People went missing during MQM regime but no one talks about it.
